MTC Players

Who are the MTC Players?

The MTC Players is a group of actors selected from our Main Stage theater program.  The Players rehearse as a group separately from the Main Stage classes, and perform a public performance of the season's play.

How is the Players cast selected?

Each season, the theater directors will select the MTC Players cast.  The cast members are selected based upon

  • Memorization of lines and solos by week 5 of the current season
  • Performance in past plays
  • Expression and acting ability
  • Maturity and classroom behavior
  • The Director's subjective and professional judgment,
such as who "best fits" each role in that season's play.

How do I nominate my child for the selection process?
Please fill out the form below to nominate your child for consideration.  Nomination does not guarantee selection, but helps the directors to know which children are interested in participating in the current MTC Players cast, or future casts.

What if my child wants to be in the Players, but is not selected?

Please discuss this with your child... As with Middle School theater and beyond, no actor should nominate themselves for the casting process unless they are prepared for the possibility that they may not be casted.  If not casted, children should remain positive, and focus on improving their skills.  The selection process starts with clean slate every season!

What are the requirements Player cast members?

The Players cast will hold three (3) 90-minute rehearsals, separate from their Main Stage class rehearsals.  The Players rehearsals will typically be held at times such as Friday or Saturday evenings at 6:30 PM, or Sunday mornings.  Once the schedule has been set by the director for these 3 rehearsals, attendance is mandatory.

What role will my child receive if selected?
When possible, the same role they have in their Main Stage cast.  However, students must be accepting of whatever role(s) in the play are assigned.

This sounds like a lot of work?  Are the children paid?

Yes - The children in the cast will receive a portion of ticket sales, along with a post-performance party courtesy of MTC!  The children will also benefit from having this accomplishment on their acting resumes.

When and where do the Players perform?  How are tickets handled?

The Players will perform at MTC's theaters.  The Spring performance date is tentatively set for Friday June 5 at 7 PM.  Tickets will be sold for $3 online.
