Matt Sevier - Rock Band Instructor

Matt Sevier received a private school education in Wilmington, Delaware, before graduating from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with an interdisciplinary degree in Music, English, and Philosophy. He has been a professional singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist for over 15 years.

While still a freshman at UNC, Matt's one-man-band recordings began receiving college radio airplay. This trend continued upon his return to the Delaware Valley when WXPN-FM added his song "Marry Katherine" to their rotation. The song became the station's most requested song for over a month, leading to high demand for his first CD, Faultlines, which introduced Matt to an international audience.

Matt has toured Europe and Scandinavia, performed live on The World Cafe syndicated radio show, received strong press from The Washington Post, Performing Songwriter, and Billboard Magazines, and performed for Amnesty International with Jackson Browne. His live band became a top regional club draw, known for Matt's tunes as well as re-workings of songs by unique artists such as Frank Zappa.

Shortly after being signed to Sony Music in the late 90's, Matt discovered a hidden talent relating to children, leading to his CD "It Takes All Kinds," named a Top 5 CD of the year by WXPN's Kids Corner. As a children's entertainer, Matt has performed at the Sunoco Welcome America festival, WXPN's Singer-Songwriter weekend, and regularly at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Matt has performed at the Kimmel Center, the Count Basie Theatre, and The Philadelphia Museum of Art, in addition to legendary clubs such as The Stone Pony, The Whiskey a Go-Go, The Bitter End, and at festivals including Boston's Fallfest and WYSP's Strawberry Fields Festival, and live on the radio at stations such as WMMR, WYSP, and WSTW.

Matt has shared the stage with legends such as The Band, Booker T. and the MG's, and Taj Mahal, as well as classic rock songwriters such as Matthew Sweet, Graham Parker, and John Hiatt, and many other notables from a wide range of musical genres.
