Students
of the Music Training Centers (www.musictraining.com) will be performing an
all-day rock concert to benefit the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America
(CCFA), on Saturday June 9, 2007, at 2 PM.
(May 24, 2007 -- The concert will be held at Grape Street Philadelphia. Over
50 local teenage musicians, who are students of the Music Training Center,
will be performing in eleven different rock bands. The bands have been rehearsing
under the direction of Brian Bricklin, director of Music Training Center's
Rock Band programs; Pat Callahan, former guitarist with internationally touring
rock band Seether; Ron Kayfield, former lead guitarist of the renowned Led
Zeppelin tribute band Get the Led Out; and Dan Kauffman of The Educated Mess.
The CCFA fundraiser was the idea of teenager Spencer Halsman, 12, a drummer
and student of the Music Training Center, who will be one of the teens performing
at this concert. Spencer was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease three years ago,
and will be selling his specially designed "ROCK TO CURE CROHN'S" wristbands
at the concert to raise money for the CCFA. All proceeds from the wristband
sales along with donations from the audience will be sent to the CCFA.
Music Training Center's Rock 101 program gives teenagers the opportunity to
learn to play and perform in rock bands. The Rock 101 program is directed
by Brian Bricklin, former guitarist with Philadelphia-based bands Bricklin
and Martins Dam. Music Training Center's prior Rock 101 concerts have been
held at Grape Street Philadelphia, WXPN World Cafe Live, Milkboy Coffee, and
other venues. Music Training Center has two locations in Ardmore and Conshohocken,
and is on the web at
