Tuition and Cancellation/Rescheduling Policies

2009-2010 School Year

Sept 1, 2009 through August 31, 2010

Tuition Policies

Payments Next month's tuition must be paid by the last lesson of the current month, else the timeslot may be reassigned to a new student.  We recommend that all students use Automatic Monthly Credit Card Billing to receive discounted tuition, and to insure that the timeslot is not lost due to an inadvertent late payment.

Tuition must be paid in full to reserve a month's lessons.  No reduction in tuition is possible to either planned or unplanned student absences.

Once tuition for the upcoming month has been paid, we commit to paying your teacher for the month.  Monthly tuition, once paid, will not be refunded for any reason.

Stopping Lessons You may stop lessons at the end of any calendar month.

After paying tuition for a month's lessons, you may stop lessons early by providing 7 days advance notice.  Tuition for lessons more than 7 days from your notice date is credited to your account for future use, but is not refunded.

School Holidays Tuition is not charged for days that MTC is closed:  Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week, and December 24th through January 1st.
Substitute Teachers If your teacher is out sick or on vacation (at most, 4 days per year), another faculty member may be scheduled to teach your lesson at the regularly scheduled time.  Substitute lessons are billed the same as regular lessons.  If you prefer to not have a substitute teacher, we will try to reschedule your lesson with your primary teacher subject to availability, however there is no monetary credit in the event that the lesson can not be rescheduled.
Lessons Cancelled by the School

Tuition for lessons cancelled by Music Training Center due to snow, instructor illness, or facility conflicts will be credited to your account and deducted from the next month's invoice.

However, if a substitute teacher is provided at the same day and time of the original lesson, it is expected that the student will attend the lesson so there is no tuition credit.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Once you have reserved a month's lessons, the school commits to paying your teacher in full for all of the lessons. This includes lessons you are not able to attend for any reason.  Additionally, your teacher is compensated when teaching rescheduled lessons.

As a service to families, we include one (1) no-cost rescheduled lesson per calendar quarter in your tuition.   A limited number of additional lessons may be rescheduled per quarter for a nominal rescheduling fee.

We understand that families are busy and conflicts arise. Our policies and programs are designed to accommodate rescheduling with the least impact to the school's lesson tuition.  Please review our Cancellation and Rescheduling policies and feel free to contact us with any questions.

Lessons Cancelled by the Student
  • If cancelled before the lesson start time, the lesson is marked as "Eligible for Rescheduling".  Lessons may be rescheduled with the original teacher, or with any other teacher on MTC's staff.

  • You may reschedule, at no cost, one (1) missed lesson per calendar quarter (Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, July-Sep, Oct-Dec).

  • Up to two (2) additional  lessons may be rescheduled per quarter for a rescheduling fee of $10 each.

  • All rescheduling is subject to availability, which is limited and can not be guaranteed.

  • Missed lessons can be rescheduled only during months in which a student has paid for the full month of lessons.  Missed lessons can not be rescheduled after the final paid lesson date.

  • Regardless of whether student-cancelled lessons are rescheduled, tuition for student-cancelled lessons is not credited, refunded, owed to the student, or carried forward to future months, regardless of reason or advance notice.
